The Black Butcherbird is a forest skulker, preying mostly on nestlings and other small vertebrates, but also eats fruit, large insects, and crabs.This photo was taken with the camera at 3X optical zoom, no scope. This subspecies differs from others in that it has two morphs, one all black and the other brown. This is a black morph individual. 25 August 2005, Kuranda, QLD, Australia.
