Album Info:

One little boy brought this frog in to kindy to show to the children. He had bought it the night before and it is an endagered species. He was told not to open the lid.. but you guessed it.. The darn thing jumped out and was not to be seen again for over an hour and a half. A very stressful monring for us staff trying to stop helpful, excited children on a mission possibly crushing or tramping on it as they looked everywhere. It was inside the air conditioner and took us a while to coax out and gosh they are slippery! I quickly taped the lid back on the container.

  • Ha ha ha...what a cute story to go with the photo. Thank goodness it did not get chopped up in the blades of the air conditioner.

  • I love your story about the frog and am glad it was safely put back in the container! It's a great shot, Susan! Many of the frogs have become so endangered that several of the zoos in the United States (and maybe other countries) are having special exhibits and events calling this the "Year of the Frog". Your classroom story reminds me of the snake that got loose in our Biology class in high school (I was a student way back then--not the teacher); that's all we could concentrate on--where was the snake going to show up. I think the girls all sat with feets tucked under them. It was finally found in a bay window in the classroom that was filled with plants--only a few feet away from my desk! Hugs, Sharon

  • Oh how lovely, it's amazing to me just how many of God's little creatures are now on the endangered list. We're not very good at looking after it are we. Beautiful shot of a wonderful creature. Well done for capturing it again, slippery cirtter:)

  • I'm not so sure about the 'Little' bit! It looks huge from where I'm sitting! My first thought on seeing the thumbnail was that you had captured a cane toad but then I thought they wouldn't have worked their way into SA yet. Super photo anyway.

  • Luckily there were no French kids in your class, otherwise they might have started taking out their knives and forks ;-) Love the green light in the shot - somehow it adds a lot to it.

  • Unfortunately, there are so many frogs that have become 'endangered' around the world. Not a good sign.
